What should I look for when choosing a drug and alcohol recovery centre?

It is extremely important that, when selecting a drug and alcohol recovery centre, you ask questions to find one able to help you reach your rehab goals. Before you do that, you have to know what your rehab goals are.

Define what a successful drug and alcohol recovery centre experience looks like to you.

Would completing an alcohol and substance recovery programme, and remaining sober for 30 days be a success? 6 months? How about a year? Before selecting a recovery retreat – decide with your loved ones what success would mean.

The right program will make it much more likely that you complete the program successfully, leave the program sober, and maintain your sobriety after you return to your life. Here are some things to look for:

The Retreat Recovery Center: Programme Choice

There are two major programmes at The Retreat NZ; firstly where the patient stays in our alcohol and substance recovery house for 30 days, and our 12-week afternoon and evening programme, where the patient is unable to step away from the responsibilities of daily life. There are many advantages and disadvantages to both, so the right choice really depends on the individual’s needs. Usually, our 30-day recovery rehab programme has a considerably higher success rate, but it is also usually more expensive and disruptive to daily life. Conversely, outpatient treatment is still a long-term success rate for many guests, but it allows patients to maintain more of their normal routine.

There are thousands of different therapy and treatment models to tackle drug and alcohol addiction. It is imperative to research different types of therapies to find which works best for you.

Our drug and alcohol recovery centre is grounded in the 12 Step Tradition of Alcoholics Anonymous. Guests become aware of their condition, embrace honesty and take directions to not only abstain from their afflictions but live a much higher quality of life.
